Week 3
Pyro goes off as there are thousands of fans in attendance for another sold-out Raw!
Michael Cole: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to Monday Night Raw!
Jerry "The King" Lawler and I will be bringing you the play-by-play scoop on tonight's card!
King: And what a card we have tonight! Randy Orton and Elijah Burke are
teaming up tonight to take on the team of Batista and Kane!
Michael Cole: And that's not all! Tonight, Matt Hardy and John "Bradshaw"
Layfield are competing in "Beat the Clock" matches tonight! Who ever is more successful, gets to chose
the match stipulation for their fight at Armageddon. Of course, we already know that JBL wants Hardy
in a Texas Bullrope Match! But what will Hardy choose if he wins the Beat the Clock challenge?
King: You'll have to tune in to find out! Unfortunately, John Cena's scheduled
"Pick Your Poison" match against Undertaker that Chris Jericho set up has been called off due to the
damage John Cena received last week from The Undertaker. Please roll the video.
A recap video replays the scene from last week which showed Undertaker choke-slamming John
Cena off of the stage.
Michael Cole: It truly makes me sick watching that video again. Well,
we certainly wish John Cena a very speedy recovery so that he can at least compete at Armageddon
for Chris Jericho's World Heavyweight Title.
Suddenly, John Cena's entrance music burst out, to the surprise of the audience and commentators.
Cena made his way down to the ring, taped down in a few bandages.
Michael Cole: Cena's here tonight! What's he going to say?!
Cena entered the ring and grabbed a microphone, preparing to address the fans.
Cena: Ohhhh No! No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO!!!!!!!
If you think that something as simple as a fifteen foot fall from a choke-slam is going to stop me
from doing what I do best....Ya got another thing comin', pal.
Cena received a huge pop from the fans with his last statement.
Cena: Tonight....I'm going to march into that ring, look Undertaker in the
eyes, give him a surprise, snap his spine, make him mine, destroy him, deploy him, beat him, defeat him....
And anything rhyming that pertains to me getting the victory over the Dead Man. To put it simple--
Cena was cut off as Chris Jericho's entrance music hit the PA. The World Champion made his way
to the ring to confront Cena.
Y2J: Look, Cena. We all know you're just coming out here to be the big,
brave hero to keep the fans on your side...But in actuality, you're in deep pain from those wounds by
The Undertaker last week. I don't mind if you backed down from your match tonight, I'll hold nothing
against you. I already got what I wanted last week when you got hurt badly, but if you face Taker tonight,
you're gonna get...Dead. I don't want that to happen, because I'm a bit relieved to face an opponent
like you at Armageddon...Who I can beat handcuffed!
Cena: You know what, Chris? Maybe you're right...Maybe The Undertaker
will destroy me...But that's a 'maybe!' The most definite outcome of tonight's match is me beating the
holy hell out of Undertaker so badly....That YOU'RE going to feel it!
Cena dropped his microphone and speared Chris Jericho. Cena then started to pound Jericho in the
face repeatedly. Jericho started punching back, and the brawl between both superstars was back and
forth. Referees and officials rushed down to ringside to break the two up, as Raw went to a commercial
break.
A few moments later, Raw was back on the air, playing a recap video of what took place moments
ago when Cena and Jericho were brawling.
Michael Cole: I can't believe it! Cena vs. Undertaker is back on for tonight!
King: This has to be the biggest mistake Cena made since...Yeah...
Suddenly, JBL's entrance hit the PA, as the self-proclaimed "Wrestling God" made his way to the
ring, receiving heat from the fans.
Michael Cole: Moving on, the first of two Beat the Clock challenges tonight
is taking place right now!
King: I've been looking forward to this...Who's JBL's opponent gonna be?!
Hardcore Holly's entrance music hit, as Holly made his way to the ring.
Michael Cole: The smash-mouth veteran, Hardcore Holly!
King: Haha! Looks like JBL's gonna have an easy one tonight!
Michael Cole: I'm not taking your word for that. Holly's a great superstar,
and he's been on a role lately with recent victories over Shelton Benjamin!
King: Recent fluke victories!
Michael Cole: Here we go again...
Match 1 - Beat the Clock Challenge - JBL vs. Hardcore Holly
Both superstars locked up as soon as the starting bell rang. JBL broke the lock up when he kneed
Holly in the gut, then gave him a front suplex. JBL then gave Holly an elbow drop and went for the early
pin-fall: "1, 2, --" Holly kicked out. Afterwards, JBL picked Holly up, but Holly started punching JBL in
the gut to battle back. Holly then Irish Whipped JBL to the turnbuckle, then ran toward him, but JBL
gave Holly a big boot to the face while he was running. Afterwards, JBL disrespected Holly by slapping
him in the face a couple times. Holly retaliated by shoving JBL back, then knocking him down with
quite possibly the best drop-kick in the business. Holly picked JBL back up, and gave him a back
suplex. He then picked JBL up again, planting him with a DDT afterwards. Just when Holly was gaining
momentum, though, Shelton Benjamin ran to the ring to interfere. Shelton stood on the apron on the
ring trying to distract Holly. Holly responded by running to Shelton and punching him off of the apron
onto the floor outside the ring. As soon as Holly turned around, he was nailed by JBL's devastating
"Clothesline from Hell." JBL covered Holly for the pin-fall: "1, 2, 3!" JBL defeated Hardcore Holly in
the time of 6:03.
Michael Cole: Ugh! Shelton Benjamin hasn't seized to make me sick these
past couple of weeks!
King: Oh, come on! We all know JBL was going to win anyways...This
worked out as a good bonus since we were all graced by The Gold Standard's presence!
Shelton celebrated with JBL by holding his arm up in victory. A moment later, Rey Mysterio was
seen backstage preparing for action when Kofi Kingston approached him.
Rey: Hey, what's up Kofi!
Kofi: Hey, Mon. I just wanted to say thanks for when you helped me out
last week when Miz and Morrison attacked me.
Rey: Don't mention it! There was no way I'd let those two clowns have
their way two weeks in a row.
Kofi: I suttenly agree! That's why I was talking to Teddy Long earlier tonight!
Rey: Ah, about what?
Kofi: A title shot! We'll be the No.1 contenders for the World Tag Team
Titles if me and you win our six-man tag team match up next!
Rey: Really? That's great man!
Kofi: Fo sho! I'll see you out there!
Kofi left Rey's locker room to prepare for their match up next. Raw then went to a commercial break.
A few moments later, Raw was back on the air. WWE World Tag Team Champions, John Morrison
and The Miz were already in the ring prepared for their six-man tag team match.
Morrison grabbed a microphone and started to address the crowd.
Morrison: Shhhhh....Do you hear it?
The fans replied with their signature "WHAT?!"
Morrison: It's...the buzz...
The fans roared out another "WHAT?!"
Morrison: The buzz of Miz and Morrison once again pummeling Rey Mysterio
and Kofi Kingston. We will prove here tonight that Rey and Kofi don't deserve a shot at the gold! Dream.... Love....
SCREAM!........ Morrison...
The Miz looked at Morrison with a bit of anger for his last statement. Miz then grabbed the microphone
from Morrison.
Miz: AND MIZ!!!
Charlie Haas' entrance music hit the PA system, as Haas made his way to the ring.
Haas: Since the two of you are ranting about your problems with
other superstars here...I figured "Hey, I might as well do that, too!" Last week, I walked up to JTG
like a man, and apologized for kicking him in the groin a couple weeks ago...And how did he react?
Him and his buddy Shad JUMPED ME and then STOLE MY WALLET!
The fans cheered rapidly over Charlie's reminder of what happened to him last week.
Haas: You people like that?! For what?! I'm just an honest man, working
for a living who didn't deserve that mugging by Cryme Tyme, and yet you people cheer thugs like that on!
So you people think Cryme Tyme is cool? Well, I'm about to show you all how "hip" and "down with it" I can be...
King: I don't know if I like where this is going...
Suddenly David Banner's song "Like a Pimp" played in the arena.
Haas: REAL THUGS GET DOWN ON THE FLOOR, ON THE FLOOR! REAL THUGS GET DOWN ON THE FLOOR, ON THE FLOOR! REAL THUGS GET DOWN ON THE FLOOR--
Miz: Like a pimp!
The crowd couldn't take more of Charlie Haas' obnoxiousness. Suddenly, Rey Mysterio's entrance
music blasted out. Rey, Kofi, and JTG all ran out to the ring at the same time receiving a massive pop
from the fans. Both teams started to brawl soon afterwards, but a moment later, everyone but two
left and went to their respective team corners.
Match 2 - 6-Man Tag Team Match
John Morrison, The Miz, and Charlie Haas vs. Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, and JTG
Rey Mysterio and The Miz were the first two combatants to start the match. Rey and Miz both
locked up at the beginning of the match. Miz got the upper-hand of the lock-up as he kneed Mysterio
in the gut a couple times, then Irish Whipped him to the corner turnbuckle, and soon chased after
Rey. While Rey ran up to the turnbuckle, he jumped to the top rope, and attempted to leap off of it
onto Miz. When Rey leaped, Miz dodged it, and Rey hit the mat hard. Miz then picked up Rey and
dragged him over to his team's corner. Miz placed Rey down in the corner and started choking him
with his boot. Miz then let go and tagged Haas. Once Haas entered the ring, he followed in Miz's
place and started to stomp Rey in the corner. Haas then picked up Rey and set him up on the top
rope of the turnbuckle, then gave him a devastating front suplex off of it afterwards. A moment later,
Haas locked Rey in the head-lock submission. Rey didn't tap out, but instead started rising to his
feet and battling Haas to break free. Rey jabbed Haas in the gut after standing up, causing Haas to
let Rey go. Mysterio then ran to the rope, but then started running back to Haas. Haas attempted
a boot to the face on Rey, but Rey ducked and then slipped under Charlie's legs, appearing behind
him afterwards. Rey executed a drop-kick to Haas from there, which sent Haas over to the edge of
the ring, landing in the middle of the ropes, the perfect position for Rey's 619! Rey attempted the 619,
but Haas caught Rey's legs, then picked Rey up and walked around the ring with him. When Haas walked
near Rey's team's corner, Rey extended his arm to JTG, and was able to make the tag. JTG entered
the ring, kicking Haas in the gut, which forced him to drop Rey. JTG then lifted Haas up and gave him
a front suplex. Afterwards, JTG taunted out to the audience. JTG then attempted to pick Haas up, but
Haas raked him in the eyes, and ran over to tag in Morrison while he had the chance. Morrison strutted
to JTG so slowly that, JTG was able to get to his corner and make the tag to Kofi. Kofi rushed to Morrison,
knocking him down with a clothesline, then ran to Morrison's corner and attacked Miz and Haas. Miz
and Haas got upset about Kofi attacking them, then hopped in the ring to attack Kofi. However, Rey
and JTG ran in the ring and started to brawl with Haas and Miz, taking the fight outside the ring. Meanwhile,
Morrison attempted a clothesline of his own to Kofi, but Kofi ducked, then drop-kicked Morrison. Once
Morrison fell, Kofi attempted "The Soul Shakedown", but Morrison moved out of the way as Kofi hopped
and landed on his rear end. Morrison then stood up quickly and kicked Kofi in the face, laying him out.
Morrison then went up to the corner and climbed to the top of the turnbuckle. At the same time, Kofi
struggled to rise to his feet as he was a bit dazed. Morrison then leaped off the top rope, aiming for
Kofi, but Kofi saw him coming and was able to act fast as he nailed Morrison with the "Trouble in
Paradise" as soon as Morrison came down. Kofi covered Morrison for the pin-fall: "1, 2, 3!"
Michael Cole: Kofi did it! That means him and Rey are the new No.1 Contenders
for Miz and Morrison's titles!
King: Whoopee...
While Rey, Kofi, and JTG were celebrating, Armando Estrada was backstage with Shelton Benjamin,
preparing to interview him.
Armando: Shelton Beanjamin! Deh Gold Standard! Deh Golden Gopher!...
Wow...Joo sure have a lot of "Golden" neak names, but...Joo haven't held gold since...I can't remember!
Shelton: Ugh. So what do you want me for...Other than to humiliate me?
Armando: Awws, yeah, that's right! I wanted to get an explanation from joo
as to why joo interfered in Hardcore Holly's match earlier and got him disqualified.
Shelton: Well, that's simple, Armando. You may not have noticed, but the
last two weeks in a row, Hardcore Holly cheated to defeat me. I wasn't going to let him do that to JBL in
his important Beat the Clock Challenge match...Which should have been mine instead! I deserve the
Intercontinental Title! Oh...Uh...Anyways, Hardcore Holly is scum...And a has-been if I might add.
He's jealous of me because of my in-ring abilities that he's never had. But you wanna know why he
has a problem with me?
Armando: Uhm...Why's that?
Shelton: It's because I'm a black man!
Armando: Uhm...Erm...Ahem...
Shelton: It's obvious, I mean he is from Alabama after all.
While Shelton was still talking to Armando, Hardcore Holly rushed up to Shelton Benjamin and started
attacking him.
Armando: Security! Security!
The security guards grabbed Holly off of Benjamin.
Armando: Make sure you throw him out of the arena! We can't have him
interfering in your match up next, after all.
Shelton: Argh, man!...Wait, match? Against who?
Armando: Matt Hardy! Jur going to be his Beat the Clock opponent!
Shelton: That's going to be non-title, though...
Armando: Yeah, good luck, haha!
Michael Cole: Can you believe it?! Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy,
Beat the Clock, next!
Raw went to a commercial break.
A few moments later, Raw was back on the air. Matt Hardy's entrance music hit the PA system,
and the fans went wild as the Intercontinental Champion made his way to the ring.
Michael Cole: If Matt Hardy can defeat Shelton Benjamin, and do it
within the time of 6:03, he gets to choose the match stipulations against JBL at Armageddon!
King: This is Shelton Benjamin we're talking about! You actually think
Matt has a chance of winning this?!
Michael Cole: Of course I do! After all, he's our reigning Intercontinental
Champion, while Shelton hasn't been on much of a roll lately.
Shelton Benjamin's music blasted out, as The Gold Standard made his way to the ring, receiving
heat from the crowd.
King: Speak of the devil! Hey, Cole...Why don't yo go and remind Shelton
about his "losing streak" he's been having lately?
Michael Cole:...No thanks...
Match 3 - Beat the Clock Challenge - Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin
Right as the starting bell rang, Shelton ran up to Hardy and knocked him down with a shoulder-block.
Shelton then started pounding Hardy's face repeatedly until the referee made him stop. Afterwards,
Shelton picked Matt up and attempted to Irish Whip him toward the corner turnbuckle, but Matt reversed
it and sent Shelton to the corner instead. Matt picked up from there as he ran up to Shelton and elbowed
Shelton in the chest, then gave him a running Bulldog afterwards. Hardy went for the pin-fall: "1, 2 --"
Shelton kicked out. Hardy was frustrated that Shelton kicked out, then looked at the clock on the titan-tron
afterwards, realizing he still had a few minutes left. While Matt was distracted by the clock, Shelton
rolled Matt up for the pin: "1, 2 --" Hardy kicked out! Afterwards, Shelton started stomping Matt on the
ground, then locked him in a head-lock. Hardy refused to submit, and then started battling Shelton
back as he stood up, still locked in the submission hold. Matt jabbed Shelton in the gut a couple times,
which forced Shelton to let go of the hold. Before Matt could do anything afterwards, Shelton kicked
him in the gut then attempted the T-Bone Suplex on Matt, but Matt was able to counter it, then gave
Shelton a Side-Effect! Matt then climbed to the top of the turnbuckle to deliver a leg-drop to Shelton
and finish the match, but right before he leaped, the sounding of the timer went off. Matt failed to
beat the clock, and the match ended in a draw. Matt stood on top of the turnbuckle, looking at
the clock in disbelief. Soon afterwards, Shelton ran up to Hardy on the top rope, then gave him the
Paydirt. Shelton then left the ring while Hardy laid there out cold.
Michael Cole: The match was over! There was no reason for that!
King: Oh yes there was! Benjamin made a statement and told each
and everyone of us that he's gunning for the Intercontinental Title!
As Matt was hurt in the ring, JBL watched from backstage with a huge smile on his face. JBL's
match with Hardy at Armageddon is officially a Texas Bullrope Match! A moment later, Shawn
Michaels was seen backstage, then suddenly, World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho
approached him.
HBK: You have guts barging in here...What do you want?
Y2J: Look man..Differences aside for a second...I need to talk
to you about something...
Raw then went off the air to a commercial break, leaving Michaels and Jericho's discussion
a cliffhanger.
A few moments later, Raw was back on the air. Randy Orton's entrance music hit the PA system,
and him and Elijah Burke made their way to the ring, receiving heat from the crowd.
Michael Cole: Randy Orton, The Legend Killer! He'll be facing The Animal,
Batista at Armageddon...But tonight, he faces Batista in tag team action!
King: As good ol' JR would say, this is going to be one Slobber Knocker!
Batista's entrance music then hit the PA system as The Animal made his way to the ring, receiving a huge
pop from the crowd. Afterwards, Kane's entrance music blasted out as The Big Red Machine made his way
to the ring with Batista.
Michael Cole: Quite possibly the dream team!
King: I can't wait for the internet fans to chew you out because of that
remark...
Match 4 - Tag Team - Randy Orton and Elijah Burke vs. Batista and Kane
Elijah Burke and Batista were the first two to start the match as the starting bell rang. Burke started
off by rushing up to Batista, but Batista knocked Burke down with an upper-cut as soon as he ran up to
him. Batista then picked up Burke, then Irish Whipped him to the corner turnbuckle. Afterwards, Batista
gave Elijah a hard smacking chop to the chest in the corner. Batista then tried to punch Burke, but Burke
ducked than had Batista cornered. Burke started punching Batista in the face repeatedly until Batista
shoved Burke back a few feet. Batista then ran up to Burke and nailed him with the spear! Batista didn't
go for the pin-fall, but instead tagged his partner Kane instead. When Burke stood up a moment later,
Kane knocked him back down with a big boot to the face. Kane then picked Burke up and gave him a
Sidewalk Slam. Afterwards, Kane stood up and looked at Randy Orton with a sadistic smile. Kane ran
up to Orton and tried to attack him, but Orton grabbed Kane's head and hopped down from the apron,
applying pain to Kane's neck in the process. Burke took advantage of the situation, then ran up to Kane
and tackled the back of his legs, knocking Kane down. Burke then tagged in Orton. Burke and Orton
double-teamed Kane and gave him a double front suplex. Burke then got behind the ropes, leaving Kane
to Orton. Orton started off by stomping Kane, then gave Kane a diving knee to the face. Orton felt sure
of a victory as he then covered Kane for the pin-fall: "1, 2, --" Kane kicked out! Orton, frustrated, picked
Kane up, but Kane jabbed Orton in the gut a few times, then knocked Orton down with a left-hook
afterwards. Kane then picked up Orton, and gave him a choke-slam! Before Kane could pin Orton,
though, Burke rushed into the ring and attacked Kane. Batista then ran into the ring to attack Burke.
Burke was near the corner turnbuckle, and Batista attempted to spear him. Burke dodged the spear,
and The Animal collided head first with the turnbuckle pads. Burke then nailed Batista with "The
Elijah Express." After Burke turned around, though, Kane lifted him up and tossed him outside of
the ring. With Orton still lying on the mat, Kane climbed to the top of the turnbuckle. Kane then
attempted a diving clothesline from the top rope, but Orton rolled out of the way just in time and
Kane hit the mat hard. When Kane stood back up, Orton ran up to him and nailed him with the RKO!
Orton then went for the pin-fall: "1, 2, 3!"
King: Now THAT'S the true dream team! Haha!
Michael Cole: Hmm...
King: What's wrong, Cole? Can't stand the fact that one of your hated
superstars wins against your favorites cleanly?!
Orton and Burke left the ring to celebrate. Just as they were heading up the ramp, though, Orton
grabbed a microphone to address Batista.
Orton: Hey, Batista! Why don't you say we we kick our Armageddon
match up a notch and make it....Last Man Standing?
The crowd cheered rapidly for the suggestion. Batista was in the ring, and then grabbed a microphone
of his own.
Batista: I....ACCEPT!
A moment later, John Cena was seen backstage, making his way to the arena for his match.
Michael Cole: Ah...The moment of truth, everyone! John Cena...The Undertaker...
Next!
Raw went to a commercial break.
A few moments later, Raw was back on the air, as John Cena's entrance music blasted the PA
system. Cena made his way to the ring receiving a huge pop from the crowd.
Michael Cole: I'm not sure if there's anyone in the WWE I respect more
than John Cena right now...
King: Why? Anyone can face The Undertaker...Doesn't mean they're
going to win!
Michael Cole: The fact that Cena took a fifteen foot choke-slam last
week from Taker, and wants to face The Deadman even more because of that! That's why I respect
Cena so much. His motivation should be inspiration to us all!
Suddenly, all the lights in the arena went pitch black. A moment later, all the lights were turned back
on. However, Cena was knocked out in the ring, and Undertaker was standing over him.
Michael Cole: A cheap shot!
Main Event - John Cena vs. The Undertaker
As the starting bell rang, Taker picked Cena up off the ground and Irish Whipped him to the turnbuckle.
Undertaker then started to pound Cena in the face repeatedly. Afterwards, Undertaker grabbed Cena's
arm and climbed up to the top rope, knocking Cena down with "The Old School." Undertaker continued
his assault by stomping Cena's head repeatedly. When Undertaker finished, he picked Cena up by the
neck and began to choke him in the air, until the referee had him let go. Undertaker turned around to
look at the referee, unpleased with the ref's actions of breaking his choke up. While Taker was intimidating
the referee, Cena stood up and gave Taker a back suplex. Afterwards, Cena started punching Taker
in the face repeatedly, until Taker grabbed him by the neck and then stood back up. Undertaker
shoved Cena to the turnbuckle, then attempted a running big boot to the face, but Cena moved
out of the way just in time for Taker's leg to get caught on the top rope. Cena took advantage of
the situation by giving Taker a neckbreaker. Afterwards, Cena placed Undertaker near the ropes
and started choking him with the middle rope until the referee forced Cena to let go. Cena then
applied the "*bleep*" to Undertaker, until he grabbed the ropes a moment later, forcing Cena to
break the hold. Cena, frustrated, picked Undertaker up, then attempted the "FU." Taker countered
the "FU" by elbowing Cena in the side of the head, forcing Cena to let go. Undertaker then gave
Cena a devastating choke-slam. Before Undertaker could go for the pin, Chris Jericho ran up to
the apron and distracted the referee. Taker started to walk over toward the ref and Jericho, but
Shawn Michaels ran behind Taker and attacked him. Taker turned around, but HBK super-kicked
him, then ran out of the ring. Taker was still standing, but dazed. Cena then picked him up and
gave him the "FU" afterwards and went for the pin-fall. Jericho left, then the referee noticed Cena's
pin: "1, 2, 3!"
Michael Cole: CENA WINS! CENA WINS!
King: You're not allowed to say that...Oh, and Cena cheated!
Michael Cole: So what?! He still over came the odds!
As Cena left the ring, Shawn Michaels entered it again, with a steel chair in hand this time.
Michael Cole: Uh-oh...Is this going to be smart?
HBK started whacking Taker in the back with the chair repeatedly. Afterwards, HBK placed Taker's
head in the center of the chair, then shut it on him applying deep damage to his neck. The crowd
cheered rapidly for HBK's attack. HBK then started pounding Taker's face repeatedly until his face
was covered in blood. Once HBK stopped, he walked to the corner, climbed to the top rope, and
leaped off, nailing Undertaker with a diving elbow-drop. HBK stared at Undertaker after his attack.
Suddenly, Undertaker grabbed Michaels by the throat and rose up. Undertaker then stood up, still
choking Michaels, and was about to choke-slam him. Michaels didn't allow it, as he kicked Taker
in the groin then gave him a devastating taste of "Sweet Chin Music." Michaels left the ring afterwards,
as he stared down back at Undertaker until Raw went off the air. This time, Taker didn't rise back up. _________________
